Thought I would share this fix. 2000 Chetak. Engine kickstarted fine and ran but
no lights or turn signals. Horn ok. Checked main fuse connected to battery -
blown. Replaced glass 20A fuse. Still no turn signals, but now had headlight and
brake light working. So, just missing turn signals. Went for a ride. Thought
about it, considered the possibility it was just a bad flasher. Pulled the
horncast to locate flasher (black rectangle with model number FZ222SD imprinted
on it). Went to the internet to find a match - turns out it is a japanese
flasher also used on yamaha and other bikes for $60 but also found out that the
very common FL552 variable electronic flasher is a good substitute. Went to
Autozone and picked up their electronic version EL552 for $7.00. Note: I could
have picked up their thermal non-electronic version for $4.00 but the electronic
version is said to handle variable voltage better. Bottom line, replaced the
flasher and now the turn signals and all electrics are back to normal.
